The Vellfire, a sister car of the Alphard, was introduced to the Netz sales channel in May 2008 to replace the Alphard V, as part of the first full model change of the Alphard line.

While its chassis was the same as that of the Alphard, the Vellfire's exterior had a more aggressive look. Both 7- and 8-passenger models featured three rows of seats. A 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine (2AZ-FE) and a 3.5-liter V6 engine (2GR-FE) were available, the former being combined with a CVT and the latter with a 6-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid model was added to the Vellfire and Alphard lines in August 2011.
