A combination of "town" and "ace."
The 1,200 cc engine was replaced with a 1,300 cc 69 PS engine in February 1978. In October that year, the wagon version enhanced its engine to one with 1,800 cc and 92 PS, and high-roof models with heights of 1,975 mm and 1,990 mm were newly added. In December 2008, the wagon substantially expanded its variety and optional equipment, adding 3-speed automatic and 5-speed manual transmission models with sliding second-row seats that could be made to face either forward or backward, and the Grand Extra model with its lavish interior comparable to a luxury sedan. The model expansion reflected the rapid rise in demand for 1-box wagons. In February 1982, a camper package called the Canyon was added to the line, featuring a sunroof/moonroof, bunk beds, powered curtains, and bronze-tinted glass.
