The sixth-generation Toyoace was released in May 1995, fully redesigned together with its sister vehicles Dyna and Hiace truck. The Toyoace models with payload capacities ranging from 1.25 to 3.5 tons became identical with those of the Dyna, the only differences being the sales channels, the grille design, and the model names. Three cab types were available: standard, wide, and grand (a derivative of the Hino Ranger FB supplied under an OEM arrangement). Addressing social concerns of the time, improvements were made in terms of environmental performance and safety as well as ride comfort.

The engine lineup included 2.0- and 2.7-liter gasoline units, an LPG unit, and five diesels including 2.8-liter, 3.4-liter, 4.1-liter, 4.1-liter turbo, and 5.3-liter units.
