In August 1988, a 4-door hardtop option was added to the 2-liter V6 Camry Prominent. (The 4-door hardtop version had already been available with the Vista, a sister brand of Camry's.) At the same time, the 1.8-liter engine was upgraded to a "high-mecha" twin-cam unit (4S-Fi).
Comes from the Japanese word "kanmuri (kamuri)" (crown).
