The fourth-generation Liteace truck was released in June 1999 along with the Townace truck, with the front section and the dashboard fully redesigned (although the design of all parts from the doors to the rear end remained unchanged). The gasoline engine was upgraded from a 1.5-liter unit (5K) to a 1.8-liter unit (7K-E), and the 2-liter diesel engine (2C) was replaced with a 2.2-liter unit (3C-E), improving fuel economy as well as the driving and environmental performance. The 4-wheel-drive (4WD) model switched the configuration from part-time to full-time 4WD. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) was standard-equipped on all models, and SRS airbags were available as an option.

Production of the diesel model was discontinued in August 2004, and the Liteace truck ended the model life in July 2007 together with the van.
