The second-generation Ractis was launched in November 2010. Its body dimensions remained unchanged from the predecessor's, except that the height was reduced by about 50 mm, although the internal width was expanded by 40 mm. The 60/40-split, tilt-down rear-seat backrests (available with the front-engine, front-wheel-drive model) could be easily folded away by pulling the levers on each side of the luggage room, enhancing the utility of the cargo space. The 1.3-liter engine was upgraded to a new Dual VVT-i unit (1NR-FE), and the 1.5-liter 4-wheel-drive model was newly paired with the Super CVT-i transmission. These improvements, together with enhanced aerodynamic performance and lighter body, resulted in a substantial gain in fuel efficiency. The Ractis was marketed in Europe as the Verso-S. The Ractis also came in a variety of Welcab models, including a high-roofed wheelchair-adapted version which received the first vehicle-type certification for the category in Japan.
Plant Iwate plant(Kanto Auto Works,Ltd.)(now Iwate plant(Toyota Motor East Japan, Inc.))
The name means "runner with activity and space." The Ractis was designed with high performance and high capacity as its themes, allowing for spirited driving and a spacious interior.
