The Model GB truck, an improved version of the Model GA truck newly fitted with the Type B engine, went into production in December 1938. Although the front design of the truck was renewed, the body dimensions were unchanged except the length, which was extended by about 460 mm. The maximum load capacity also remained the same at two tons. The Type B engine was a souped-up Type A engine with an improved compression ratio, capable of producing 75 hp. The engine output was further enhanced to 78 hp in a minor model change in January 1940, when some other improvements were also added to the chassis. At the same time, the Model HB was announced, in November 1939, as the short-wheelbase (3,300 mm) version, using a chassis that was shared with a bus.
