The meaning is the same as model code.
Although the chassis' wheelbase (3,594 mm) and the front and rear treads (1,435 mm/1,647 mm) were the same as those of the G1 truck's, its floor height was distinctly low at 61 cm, befitting its use as a bus. Moreover, the minimum ground clearance was high, making the bus adaptable for poor road conditions. The DA used the same Type A engine as that used for the Model G1 truck and the Model AA sedan -- an inline 6-cylinder OHV gasoline-powered unit with a 3.4-liter displacement and an output of 65 hp.
At the announcements held at various locations, the Model DA bus was very favorably received for its ride comfort and fuel efficiency. It shared the fenders and the bonnet with the Model G1 truck. The bus body behind the windshield was manufactured by Shibaura Jidosha Kogyo in Tokyo, Kurata Jukogyo in Yokohama, and Nagoya Jidosha Seisakusho in Nagoya. The body produced by Kurata had a passenger capacity of 21.
