The Model FL was a medium-sized bus that went into production in September 1949.

While the Model BL that was produced at around the same period employed the Type B gasoline engine (an inline 6-cylinder 3.4-liter 75 hp unit), the FL used the Type F engine that enlarged the bore of the Type B engine to enhance the displacement to 3.9 liters and the output to 95 hp. The BL/FL buses evolved into the BY/FY, followed by the FB/BB and then by the FB60.
Plant Koromo plant(now Honsha plant), Toyota Shatai Kogyo Co., Ltd.(now Toyota Auto Body Co.,Ltd.)
The meaning is the same as model code.
