The 16 participating teams are drawn into 4 groups of 4 teams each. Teams in each group play round-robin. The top 2 teams from each group (total 8 teams) will advance to the knockout stage to compete for the title of the Asia champion.The winner of the tournament earns the right to compete for the FIFA Confederetions Cup 2017 as the delegate from Asia.
