What is Toyota's stance on climate change?

The transportation sector accounts for around 20% of energy-derived CO2 emissions worldwide, with 70 - 80% of those emissions coming from automobiles. CO2 emissions reduction is therefore a serious issue for both Toyota and the automobile industry as a whole. Toyota's stance is that without focusing on energy and global warming countermeasures there can be no future for motor vehicles, and towards that end is devoting all of its resources to Research and Development, Manufacturing and Social Contribution in order to help foster the creation of a low carbon society.
