What initiatives does Toyota have in place to help with employee skills development?

Toyota believes that making things is about developing people. In other words, developing human resources is central to creating good products. With the aim of fostering human resources able to put the Toyota Way into practice, Toyota is constantly working to enhance and improve its educational programs based around the five keywords (challenge, kaizen, genchi genbutsu, respect and teamwork). Developing outstanding production skills and handing them person to person, to future generations requires human resource development through day-to-day work onsite. Thus, Toyota undertakes human resource development based on on-the-job training (OJT). Toyota also strives to create workplaces with abundant vitality while establishing and improving educational systems for Toyota personnel throughout the world.
