Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC)
Many young members of the sizeable Brazilian community in Japan have been educated in Portuguese and therefore find it difficult to adjust to schools or enter further education in Japan because of the language. In 1999, Toyota Motor Corporation started up an automobile technical training course with the aim of helping these young people. This full-time course has a capacity of twenty students and is conducted in Portuguese over a year at the Toyota Technical College Nagoya in Kiyosu City, Aichi. The course is taught by Brazilian instructors, and is tailored to the requirements of vehicles in the local market. Recently celebrating its 14th anniversary, most of the 281 course graduates have returned to Brazil and are contributing to the development of its automobile industry through the knowledge and skills learned in the course.
