Toyota do Brasil LTDA
The Toyota do Brasil Foundation (TBF), formed by Toyota do Brasil in April 2009, preserves the Toyota Costa dos Corais area; the largest Marine Protected Area in the country and the second largest in the world. Established in 1997 by the Brazilian government, the area includes 11 municipalities in the northeastern states of Alagoas and Pernambuco, with more than 413,000 hectares of protected area. The ecosystem of the area is on the ropes.
From 2011, the investment of TBF in the project makes possible the effective protection of the coral reefs and mangroves, and all fauna and flora existing in this unique ecosystem, where lives the manatee: the most endangered aquatic mammal in Brazil.
In addition, the Toyota Costa dos Corais project also promotes scholarships for students in the region, encourages environmental researches and the generation of scientific knowledge by local universities. Furthermore, it invests on the empowerment of local communities towards the development of economic activities compatible with the environmental conservation.

The Costa dos Corais faces serious environmental challenges.
