Toyota Driving Expectations (United States)

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. (TMS)

Toyota Driving Expectations is a free program that teaches defensive driving for teen drivers and their parents

Teenaged drivers account for 13.6% of the fatal traffic accidents in the United States, thought they account for only 6.3% of the licensed drivers. TMS (Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A.) has developed the "Toyota Driving Expectations" program and the goal of program is to proactively take America's driving youth through a safe driving experience. The 4 hour dynamic course does more than inform, it takes teens the next step beyond driver's education and introduces "real world" obstacles, conditions and distractions in a safe and controlled driving environment.

Another unique feature of the program is the inclusion of the parents, which allows them to gain valuable insight into the challenges facing teen drivers today. At the program's closing session, the parents and teens are reunited to discuss what they learned and sign a parent/teen agreement on future safe driving practices.

Since the official launch of program in 2004, over 19,370 people (parents and teens) has participated in the program by the end of 2011 session.
