Dismantling simulation technologies

In order to design easy-to-dismantle vehicles, Toyota has developed technologies to run computer simulations of the process of removing resin parts. This allows designers to calculate the force necessary for breakage and removal without conducting tests on actual vehicles. In FY2008, Toyota established simulation technologies for wiring harnesses as well as bumpers and instrument panels. In FY2009, Toyota developed a system to simulate the removal of door trim, using a plastic component equivalent in bulk to bumpers and instrument panels.
