The period covered by this report is the fiscal year 1998 (April
1, 1998 to March 31, 1999). It describes environmental activities,
mainly concerning automobiles, carried out in Japan during that
period. Please note that FY indicates Fiscal Year.
The report begins with an overall description of Toyota "Environmental
Management" and then according to the order of the lifecycle of
an automobile, reports on "Development and Design," "Procurement
and Production," "Logistics," and "Recycling."
The sections entitled "Development Results" and "Initiatives" at
the end of each chapter, as well as the section "Special Story"
at the end of the report, introduce Toyota environmental examples
and projects that had particularly favorable effects.
94% of Toyota's sales revenues derive from automobiles; however,
"Non-Automotive Businesses" reports on other business activities
involving environmental responses.
