Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC)
Of the approximately seven billion people on the planet, it is said that around one billion are suffering from poverty and do not have enough to eat. At the same time, around one billion people in developed countries are suffering from lifestyle-related diseases caused by overeating. The Table for Two (TFT) program run by Table for Two International, an authorized NPO, is endorsed by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), and attempts to simultaneously solve these two contrasting problems. Beginning in June 2011, TMC now serves reduced-calorie TFT lunches at a total of 18 employee cafeterias. The price of these healthy lunches includes a 10-yen donation that is matched by TMC. This 20 yen is donated to provide one school lunch to a child in Africa.
By providing its employees with easy opportunities to take part in social contribution activities, TMC is aiming to raise the volunteer-related consciousness of its employees, as well as to help abolish poverty in developing countries while improving the eating habits of people in developed countries.
