January 1997: Sales Operations Center System Introduced

Strengthening the Characteristic of Each Sales Channel

A decision was made in 1997 to implement major organizational reforms in the Domestic Sales Operations Group. The Sales Operations Center System was introduced with the objectives of integrating by channel sales functions, which had been divided into categories such as new cars, used cars, service, publicity, and so on, substantially strengthening responsibilities and authority, and conducting comprehensive strategic proposals and management.

A shift was made from sales activities that focus on new cars to a comprehensive sales style with new cars, used cars, and service at the core and also including installment sales, insurance, and telecommunications.

Toyota channel dealers, Toyopet channel dealers, Corolla channel dealers, Auto channel dealers, and Vista channel dealers were managed by Sales Operations Groups 1 through 5.
