The second-generation Crown also offered van and station wagon versions. While the van was intended for commercial use, the Custom station wagon was designed to be a passenger car. Although station wagons were rarely used for private purposes in Japan at the time, Toyota went ahead and introduced this body type into the domestic market, as it was already popular in the U.S. The catalog touted the Crown Custom as "the plushest and most luxurious passenger car" that was ideal for "hunting, golf, skiing, and weekend drives," although the enviable lifestyle depicted here was still far beyond the reach of ordinary people.

The mechanical components including the X-shaped frame and the engine were the same as those of the second-generation Crown sedan, with a difference that the Custom adopted a rigid axle rear suspension. As with the sedan, the Crown could accommodate six passengers on 2-row bench seats. When the rear seats were folded flat, the length of the luggage room was extended to 1,925 mm. The tailgate was bottom-hinged, and power windows were standard-equipped.
