Although the Toyota Model FA underwent numerous minor changes since 1951, it was not until September 1964, 13 years after its debut, that the large truck was fully redesigned.

The Model FA100 featured a linear styling and four headlamps that gave it a fresh appearance, while adopting a newly designed rigid frame and a reinforced suspension. Large window glasses and a deep cone steering wheel were also employed to enhance safety. The capacious engine room with an alligator bonnet improved serviceability. Variations included gasoline and diesel engine models, 5- and 6-ton models, and a dump truck, among others.
