From November 4 to 6, 2022, the 8th Special Olympics Nippon National Summer Games HIROSHIMA 2022 was held in Hiroshima Prefecture. At the same time, athletes were selected for the Japanese team to compete at the Special Olympics World Summer Games Berlin 2023, to be held in Germany.

About 800 athletes came from 47 districts around Japan to participate in the event, where they were able to show off the results of their daily practice. A total of 4,300 volunteers assisted at the event.

Toyota employee participation included two athletes and one partner, 51 volunteers assisting with running the event, and dozens of supporters to cheer on the athletes.
