The seventh-generation Corolla Levin released in June 1991 had an even longer wheelbase than its predecessor's, along with extended body width and length. The overall body styling gave the car a more massive feel, enhancing its image as a high-grade model. The available power units included 1.5-liter 105 PS and 1.6-liter 115 PS "high-mecha" twin-cam engines, as well as sports twin-cam 20-valve 160 PS and supercharged 170 PS 4A-GZ units. The 4-wheel strut system was standard, while Super Strut front suspension (first adopted with the Celica to great acclaim) was optional for higher grade models.
